Here's what each one means:
- Ahead: the parts of your field where human judgment, taste, relationships, or accountability still matter more than model output. Example for Data Science: framing a fuzzy business question, picking the right metric.
- Catching up: the parts where AI can now do a credible first draft on its own. Example: writing boilerplate SQL, summarizing notebooks, generating chart code.
Neither column is a verdict. "Catching up" doesn't mean obsolete, it means the work is shifting and you need to move with it.
